Spouse Tours - Spring 2001

MONDAY, APRIL 23, 2001

A day in Frankenmuth: (COST: $40 - LUNCH INCLUDED - 8:30 am to 4:00 pm)

This quaint German Village, founded in 1845 by a group of fifteen German-Lutheran missionaries will be the focus of Monday's tour. Along the way to Frankenmuth we will stop at Bonner's, the world's largest Christmas Store, where it has been Christmas 361 days a year for the past 39 years. We will have lunch at the Bavarian Inn, which is one of the most popular eateries in town. At the Bavarian Inn 600,000 pounds of chicken a year are used for their popular chicken dinners that people from all over the country enjoy.

During our visit, a walk through this charming Old World Community with its freshly groomed tree/flower lined streets helps visitors imagine they've stepped into the Black Forrest area of Europe. We will get a chance to see the 35-bell Glockenspiel that echoes for miles and the carved wooded figures that move on a track in the 40 foot tower, acting out the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamlin. Yes there will be time to shop!
