Kent W. 
Brown. k.w.brown@ieee.org, is a native 
of Louisville, KY. He received both his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and 
Master of Electrical Engineering degrees from the University of Louisville. Kent 
majored in microwave engineering and wrote his thesis on the microwave 
transmission of phase modulated digital data.
From 1973 until 2014 Kent 
was employed by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). He served as an Inspection 
and Test Engineer in their Baden, Switzerland office, a supervisor in a variety 
of capacities, the Corporate Cable Specialist, Manager of Electrical 
Engineering, Manager of Design Engineering and Senior Technical Advisor to the 
Vice President of Engineering for TVA’s Nuclear Power Group. 
Kent has been active in the ICC since 
1987. He is the past Vice Chairman of three Working Groups; WG D5 on station 
cable installation, WG 6-7 on fire and arc protection of cables and WG D6 on 
fiber optic cable installation. He is the past Chairman and Vice Chairman of the 
Station, Control and Utilization Cable Subcommittee and member of the ICC AdCom. 
Kent served as ICC's webmaster from its inception in 1996 until 2006. In 
addition to his ICC work, Kent represented TVA on numerous EPRI, NEI, CEATI 
and AEIC committees
Since leaving TVA, Kent has continued to be active in the industry as a 
consultant on both national and international cable projects. 
Kent lives near Chattanooga, TN. He and his wife, Michele, have one daughter and three grandchildren.
Kent was the 2001 recipient of the ICC Distinguished Service Award.
Kent was elevated to IEEE Fellow, effective January 1, 2014, with the following citation:
for leadership in standards development for design, testing, and utilization of electrical equipment for the nuclear power industry
