that Defined the
Electric Power Industry
In the year 2000, PES will publish a special publication tentatively entitled, Twentieth Century Papers that Defined the Electric Power Industry which will include reprints of those seminal, most influential papers that have affected the electric power industry this century. We need your help in identifying these papers. Any paper previously published in this century by the IEEE Power Engineering Society or the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (predecessor society to the IEEE) is eligible.
Members are asked to nominate those papers published in this century that they consider most important. You may send your nomination by mail, FAX or e-mail to:

You may fill in the form provided with this announcement or simply provide information shown there in a letter, FAX or email. The recommendation should answer the following questions: What basic problem did the paper address? How did the paper influence or change the practices in the electric power industry? What new concept, new process, or new design technique did the paper bring to the profession? Were the authors generally recognized by the profession as the pioneers in its development? Have the ideas presented in the paper held up through time?
