Scope: Design, construction application and operation of equipment, appurtenances and accessories used with insulated conductors; included are terminations, joints, filling compound, oil or gas pressurization systems, alarm systems, thermocouples, network limiters, and other devices required for operating insulated conductors.
Mission Statement: The Accessories Subcommittees mission is to continuously improve the fundamental technological understanding, practical application, and safe use of accessories on conductors having applied insulation or coverings. Support the Activities, Participants and Precepts of the Insulated Conductors Committee Mission Statement.
Bob Gear, Chairman, USi, reported that the Accessories Subcommittee met on Tuesday, November 4, 1997 with 139 members and guests in attendance. In addition to the WG reports, which appear on their respective Homepages, three special presentations were given:
Don Johnsen, Commonwealth Edison, presented a paper on "Transient Ground Potential Rise in SF6 Terminations: Monitor and Mitigation" is included as Appendix 10-D.
Frank Frentzas, Commonwealth Edison, presentation on "Commonwealth Edison Co. 138 kV Transmission Retrofit Project" is included as Appendix 10-E.
Henk Geene, N.K.F., presented a paper on "New Generation of HV and EHV Accessories for Solid Dielectric Cables" is included as Appendix 10-F.
