WG 7-41 - Spring 1995 Minutes

The working group met on Monday, April 10,1995 with 16 members and guests present.,

During the meeting, we summarized the history of the working group. This group was developed to continue the work of the EEI Operations report on cables and accessories. Initially, WG 7-41, collected data on hand written forms from utilities on new cable and accessory installations along with failure information on these equipment. Data was supplied by utilities on a very limited basis. To encourage involvement, the working group developed a computer program which was intended to encourage utilities to submit data. Despite both the written forms and computer program, very little data was submitted to the working group. As a result, the working group pursued getting data directly from cable manufacturers after the Fall 1994 meeting. This provided some success. Ted Balaska suggested that we also approach accessory manufacturers to get information from them. WG 7-41 resolved that data would be obtained only from manufacturers, and no failure data would be provided in the report format. Operating data will be included in future minutes of the ICC meeting as an appendix to the meeting. The plan is to have something ready for the next meeting in November. Because of the new approach to obtaining data, the group resolved to discontinue formal meetings at the ICC in order to free up the time slot for other working groups. The meeting was then adjourned.
