John Merando (M87) was born in Cold Spring, New York on September 20, 1950. He received an AS in Engineering Science from Delhi College (SUNY) in 1970, BS in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1972, and an MS in Administration and Management from Hood College in 1985. Mr. Merando completed a 20-year career in the USAR and in 1992 retired with a rank of Major in the field of logistical support to the signal corps. Mr. Merando holds PE licenses in electrical in the states of California and Maryland and a PE license in Quality from California.
From 1972 to present Mr. Merando has worked for the Bechtel Corporation in various quality and electrical engineering project related assignments. From 1982 to present, Mr. Merando has been recognized as Bechtels office expert in the field of cable specification and cable installation in power plant applications.
Mr. Merando is a voting member of ICC, a member of UL Panel 83, Chairman of ICC Working Groups D5 (IEEE 1185) and D15 (IEEE 1202), and former Vice Chair and Chair of Subcommittee D of ICC. In addition Mr. Merando has been active in local civic organizations being a member of the Glade Town homeowners association board of directors for the past twenty years and a member of the Walkersville Planning and Zoning for the last five years.
