Dr. Tanaka received his B.A. in chemistry from UCLA in 1951 and his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 1956. From 1956-63 he taught chemistry at South Dakota State and also spent summers, during this period, working on electrical insulation problems at Westinghouse. He spent two years as a postdoctoral trainee at the University of Pittsburgh. His research has involved the aging of electrical insulating materials and the nature of space charge as a function of the chemical characteristics of fillers.
The ICC was saddened to learn of Dr. Tanaka's death on April 12, 2012. A rememberance has been posted on the DEIS website here.
