An Invitation
We are looking forward to your attendance at the IEEE Power & Energy Society’s Insulated Conductors Committee (ICC) in Savannah, Georgia at the Hyatt Regency Savannah. Savannah is the first “planned” city in the original American colonies to utilize a grid to lay out streets and played critical roles in both the American Revolution and Civil War and, consequentially, is filled with numerous historic landmarks. The Hyatt Hotel for the Spring 2019 meeting is located adjacent to the Savannah River and conveniently nearby several points of interest (see below) that are within walking distance or a short drive.
Registration for the Spring 2019 meeting will open on 4-March-2019. Registration for the limited “Table Top” exhibit space will also open on 4-March-2019. You will not be able to register for the meeting or reserve a Table Top prior to 4-March-2019, so do not call in advance regarding early registration is this is not available. For the Spring 2019 meeting, the hotel is able to accommodate a few more Table Tops than we have had at other recent meetings, but space may still be limited.
Points of interest near Savannah include American Prohibition Museum, Savannah Bee Company, Jepson Center for the Arts, Wright Square Antique Mall, the Independent Presbyterian Church, and many other shops, public parks and eateries.
A printable invitation is linked here for those that might need it for management, a travel visa or other purposes. You can complete your personal details on the invitation.

The cost will be $65.00 per person and pre-registration will be required as the number of participants must be guaranteed.
The Historic Savannah Experience with Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil Highlights
Founded in 1733, Savannah’s rich history, unique charm, and stunning beauty continually delight visitors.
The experience begins with a trolley ride through historic Savannah, home to stately Southern architecture and distinctive park-like squares.
The group will enjoy a stop at The Mercer House made famous by the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. In 1969, Jim Williams, one of Savannah’s earliest and most dedicated private restorationists, bought the then vacant house and began a two-year restoration. Today the house is owned and occupied by Dr. Dorothy Kingery, the late Jim Williams sister who has opened the first floor of the house to visitors. As the group tours the house they will enjoy seeing furniture and art from Jim Williams’ private collection as well as learning of the history of this historic home.
Lunch will be enjoyed at one of Savannah’s local restaurants. Situated in the former historic garden area The Pirate’s House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House located within The Pirate’s House is said to be the most historic house in Georgia. Erected in 1734 it was built to house the Gardner of Trustees Garden. The Pirate’s House has been welcoming visitors to Savannah with a bounty of delicious food and drink since 1753.
Our experience continues to beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery a former 600 acre rural estate which sits on the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway and is now the resting place for Savannah’s famous son, singer songwriter, Johnny Mercer.
