Spring 2023 PES-ICC Meeting

I hope everyone has had a wonderful first month of the new year. The Spring 2023 ICC meeting is fast approaching. We are excited to welcome you again to the IEEE Power & Energy Society’s Insulated Conductors Committee (ICC) meeting in Denver, Colorado at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. Located at the heart of downtown Denver, the Sheraton Connects the city’s most distinct and coveted neighborhoods. The 16th Street Mall, a mile-long pedestrian promenade with shopping, dining, nightlife and entertainment, is directly outside of the hotel’s front door. Among nearby attractions are Coors Field, Denver Art Museum, the Denver Zoo. Most of all, your presence in ICC, participation in ICC working groups / discussion groups and contribution to IEEE standards development are very important to our industry and greatly appreciated.
You are encouraged to reserve your room promptly and use the link available in the “Hotel Information” Section below to obtain a discounted rate. Please note, the hotel will close the reservation link prior to the meeting.
Advance registration for the Spring 2023 meeting will open on Monday, 27-March-2023 and will close on Friday, 21-April-2023. In addition to minimizing time at the registration desk so you can quickly start enjoying the meeting, there is a much lower cost for Advance Registration. Registration for the limited “Tabletop” exhibit space will also open on 27-March-2023. No early registration prior to the opening date will be permitted. As we are getting closer to the meeting dates, more information will be posted. Please check the ICC website often for updates. I look forward to seeing you in Denver.

The theme of the Spring 2023 Educational Program is “Submarine Power Cables – Design, Installation, and Repair”. Abstracts of the presentations will be found here.

Registration
Advance registration for the Spring 2023 meeting will open on Monday, 27-March-2023 and will close on Friday, 21-April-2023.

In order to obtain the “advance registration” discounted registration cost, you must pre-pay using a credit card before Advance Registration closes. Otherwise, you will pay the onsite registration cost.
We encourage you to register on-line even if you do not plan to pay with a credit card. The option to register and mail a check or to pay on-site with cash or check is also available with on-line registration.
Online meeting registration can be used by everyone, both members and guests, and will speed registration for everyone. Pre-registration will save you time and hassle when you arrive, as your name tag will be ready and waiting for you.
Effective with the Fall 2018 Meeting, advance payment will be required to get the advance registration rate. Advance payment can be made by Credit Card through the registration system, or by mailing a check to the Membership Secretary.

Mini-Expo
This meeting will feature a Mini-Expo for vendors to make table top displays of equipment and services related to the scope of the ICC. You can sign up for a table top display using the meeting Registration form. A list of exhibitors can be found here.

New Member Orientation
First Meeting? Want to know more about the ICC? Please attend the Orientation Session on Sunday afternoon. There are many different sessions at ICC meetings and they cover a multitude of subjects related to insulated conductors. Information presented at Orientation will help you find the sessions that are of most interest to you.

Rooms at the ICC group rate in the Sheraton are sold out.
IEEE ICC strives to have everyone stay at the “host” hotel for convenience, camaraderie and safety reasons. Unfortunately, we ran short on guestrooms for upcoming meeting at the Sheraton Denver Downtown.
If you made a reservation at the Sheraton and unable to attend meeting, please do NOT cancel your room reservation as it will be returned to the hotel, not the group. You can help a fellow ICC attendee that needs a room by sending your confirmation email or number to Jennifer at jquandel@hpnglobal.com. She will cancel your room and make a new reservation for an attendee on a waiting list. Once your reservation is cancelled, you will receive an email with cancellation #. This process may take a few days so please be patient.
Below are two overflow hotels within approximately 5-minute walk from Sheraton. Please make your reservation as soon as possible as there are only a limited number of rooms at the ICC group rate in each hotel.

Spouse Activities
Spouse/Guest Breakfast – As always, if your spouse or guest would like to be included in the daily breakfasts from 8:00 – 9:30 AM, please be sure to register them by selecting “Companion Registration” during the registration process. (The cost is $125 and includes breakfast on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.)
A meeting room will be available for spouse/guest activities and group organization within the hotel each day.
Transportation
The nearest airport to the conference is the Denver International Airport (DEN). This airport is 26 miles (41.8 km) away from the ICC conference hotel by car.
