Call for Fellow Nominations
Nominations are being accepted for the next class of IEEE Fellows. The rank of IEEE Fellow is the institute’s highest member grade, bestowed on an IEEE Senior Member who has had an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The deadline for nominations each year is March 1.
Senior Members can be nominated in one of four categories: application engineer/practitioner, research engineer/scientist, educator, or technical leader.
The Fellows Web pages contain information regarding the history of the IEEE Fellows program, the nomination process, access to the Fellows Nomination Kit, lists of Fellows who are eligible to be references and more about the Fellow program. Please visit the Fellows website at http:/www.ieee.org/fellows.
Call for IEEE/PES Awards Nominations
There are a number of IEEE/PES awards that Technical Committee’s (such as the ICC) are encouraged to submit nominations for. Below are shown three of the awards, and a description of each and who should be nominated. If you have somone to nominate, please contact Lauri Hiivala.
1. Technical Committee Distinguished Service Award
Each Technical Committee is encouraged to make one award for outstanding service. This personal recognition acknowledges the efforts of those individuals whose sustained performance, over many years, has contributed to the advancement of the committee technology. This award consists of a plaque with a suitable inscription. Please forward the name of your Outstanding Service Award recipient to the Technical Council Awards Committee Chair by November 14. The award will be available and distributed to you or your representative at the Technical Council Meeting during the General Meeting.
Please make the effort to nominate someone in your committee by the November 14 deadline.
The PES web site also provides the following information about other Technical Council awards:
2. Technical Committee Prize Paper Award
Each Technical Committee of the Technical Council is entitled and encouraged to prepare an award to the author(s) of an outstanding technical paper. This award consists of a plaque with inscription. Please forward the name(s) of those selected by your committee for recognition to the Technical Council Awards Committee Chair by November 14.This selection process is a separate and distinct one from the PES Prize Paper Award nominations sent to the Chair of the PES Awards Committee. Most committees choose to recognize the same paper for both the Technical Committee and PES Awards. Without other instructions, the Technical Committee Award will be conferred on your PES nomination. If your intention is to nominate the same paper, please indicate this on the nomination form also. The awards will be available and distributed to you or your representative in advance of or during the General Meeting.
3. Technical Committee Working Group Recognition Award
Each Technical Committee of the Technical Council is encouraged to select one Working Group to be recognized for outstanding performance. This award consists of a plaque with an inscription to be presented to the Working Group Chair. Working Group members will receive a certificate with an inscription. Please forward the name(s) of those your committee has selected for recognition to the Technical Council Awards Committee Chair by November 14. This selection process is separate and distinct from the PES Working Group Award nominations sent to the Chair of the PES Awards Committee. However, the same working group may be recognized for both awards by your committee. Indicate on the nomination form if you will nominate or have nominated the same working group for the PES Award. The award will be available and distributed to you or your representative at the Technical Council Meeting during the General Meeting.
