For his strong leadership and continuously fostering the close international cooperation between IEEE PES ICC and CIGRE Study Committee B1 and his contribution as Chair and Vice Chair of C29W in preparing Standard P1727-2013.

Career Highlights

Education

Pierre Argaut was graduated as Electrical Engineer from the “Institut d’Electrotechnique de Grenoble” in 1971.

Employment

He joined Delle-Alsthom (Now part of Alstom Grid) in Nov 1971 and took several positions before heading the R&D Department on Gas Insulated Systems (GIS). After being Operation Manager of South European Pipeline, he joined SILEC in 1988 and retired at the end of 2010. His last position with SILEC was Senior Vice President.

He has served diligently on a variety of cable accessory industry organizations and committees including the following:

  • Member, CIGRE (International Council on Large Electric Systems) where he has participated in and chaired several Working Groups and Committees that included the following:
    • Working Group Member (21.09; 21.06; 21.07; 21.17),
    • French Study Committee Member
    • Working Group Convener (B1.19),
    • Special Reporter CIGRE Cable session in 2010,
    • Advisory Group Convener (Tutorial Advisory Group till 2010)
    • Chairman of Study Committee B1 “Insulated Cables” (2010 – 2016).
  • Member, Insulated Conductors Committee where he has participated in and chaired many discussion and standards groups that included the following:
    • Vice Chairman and Chairman of Working Group C29 for preparing IEEE  1727-2013 Guideline For Working Procedures On Underground Transmission Circuits With Induced Voltage
    • Member of Discussion Group G10 International Organizations, fostering the close international cooperation between IEEE PES ICC and CIGRE Study Committee B1
    • Member of Working Group C2 for preparing IEEE 575-2014 – Guide for Bonding Shields and Sheaths of Single-Conductor Power Cables Rated 5 kV through 500 kV
