An Invitation from the Chairman

1997 Fall Meeting - November 2-5 - St. Petersburg Beach, FL

Dear member or guest,

It is my distinct privilege to extend to you an invitation to attend our next Fall meeting marking the 50th anniversary of the Insulated Conductors Committee (ICC). Because of this very special occasion, the format of our meeting has been changed significantly. Please examine carefully the preliminary meeting schedule and other pertinent information.

The meeting will be held November 2-5 at the Don CeSar Beach Resort, St. Petersburg Beach, FL. The room rate will be $145, single or double. Please make your hotel reservation as soon as possible. You may also call (800) 282-1116. The cut-off date for reservations is September 30, 1997. However, your deposit is fully refundable provided you cancel 5 days before arrival. The ICC is committed to a minimum occupancy rate in order to receive the privilege of free meeting rooms. If possible, please use the official meeting hotel for your accommodations in order to help us fulfill the minimum occupancy requirements.

Special air fares and car rental rates have been negotiated, as follows:

• Airline: Delta Air Lines is the official meeting air carrier. To take advantage of Delta's special discount fare, call or have your travel agent call : 1-800-241-6760 and refer to File Number 104324A and meeting identifier code DMN104324A.
• Car Rental: Avis is the official car rental company. Its discounted rates are enclosed. For rental reservations, call 1-800-331-1600 and refer to the AWD number A606096.

In addition, you'll want to consider the following:

• A Program Overview - Please study this document carefully and note the deviations from past meetings.
• Preliminary Schedule of Meetings - Any last minute changes will be posted at the registration desk and discussed at the Monday Plenary Session. They will also be posted here on the ICC Web Pages as soon as the information is available.
• Registration Form - Although the Sunday reception is at no cost (NC), please make sure to indicate the number of attendees.
• Special 50th Anniversary Celebration Program - The Futuristic Finesse gala dinner celebration on Tuesday evening requires advance registration and will be limited to 325 persons.
• Educational Program - The Wednesday afternoon Didactic will feature a panel session on Utility Practices for Field Testing of Medium and High Voltage Cables. It is sponsored by Subcommittee 12. A buffet luncheon will be included for all who have registered to attend.
• Ladies' Program - This year's activities include special shopping and a unique museum tour.

One of the highlights of this special meeting is Dr. Lowell Catlett's presentation on Monday morning. Everyone, including the spouses and companions, is invited to attend. The Ladies' program has been arranged to begin after this event.

As in the past, a "casual" dress code, except for the Tuesday evening gala celebration, will be effective at this meeting. For the gala celebration, business attire is indicated, but formal dress (including black tie!) is optional.
