ICC Members and Guests:

With this letter I cordially invite you to the 103rd meeting of the Insulated Conductors Committee Meeting which will be held at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Ontario Canada on April 5 - 8, 1998. This will be my first meeting as chairman of the ICC and I look forward to working with all of you as we return to Canada for what should be a productive, enjoyable meeting.

The cutoff date for room reservations is March 5, 1998. Special air fare and car rental rates for our meeting are available.

Toronto is a wonderful city with lots to do and see. Activities of interest are described on the Toronto WEB page which can be accessed from the Spring 1998 ICC web page. At this time of year, the weather in Toronto can be a bit cool so remember to pack a jacket or sweater.

As usual, there is a active and interesting program for spouses.

Meeting registration forms are included in this mailing. Important registration tips are: Preregistering saves you money if you meet the deadline! It also helps us better plan the meeting.

As a courtesy to international members and guests, you can pay the registration fee on site at preregistration rates if you fax or mail your registration forms by the deadline.

Please bring a check for US funds or cash, we do not accept credit card payments.

Other meeting tips are shown below.

If this is your first meeting or you want to learn more about the ICC, please attend the Orientation Session on Sunday afternoon. Their are many different sessions at ICC meetings which cover a multitude of subjects related to insulated conductors. Information presented at Orientation will help you find the sessions which are of interest to you.

If you are a working group or subcommittee chair or vice chair, please plan to attend the All Chairs meeting on Monday morning at 7:00 am.

All meeting attendees are encouraged to attend the Opening Session on Monday morning at 8:00 am. During this session you will learn about last minute changes and special activities which will take place during the meeting. You will also see your fellow ICC members receive awards for accomplishments made throughout the year.

On Wednesday afternoon, we will have Didactic and Educational Programs.

If there is sufficient interest, ICC will have a New Product Display. See attached details.

If you plan to make a presentation, please remember the following:

Make slides and overheads clear and concise. Less is almost always better! Use LARGE FONTS!

Check out the audio visual equipment in advance. Locate the microphone and the projector switches before you make your presentation.

Leave out commercialism. Company names and logos are allowed on the first slide only!

Visual aids can make or break a presentation and we want your presentation to be a success!

That’s all I can think of for now. If you have any questions or comments, please send me an email at r.hartlein@ieee.org. Don’t forget to check out the ICC WEB page for the latest information on the spring meeting and other ICC related information. See you in Toronto.

Sincerely,

Rick Hartlein

Chairman, ICC
