Excell O. Ferrell III

Senior Vice President -- Distribution Wires


ferrell.jpg (7092 bytes) E.O. Ferrell is senior vice president, distribution wires, for Duke Power, a Duke Energy company. He is responsible for maintaining Duke Power’s distribution wires network and managing the processes that connect and deliver electric service to approximately two million industrial, commercial and residential customers in the Piedmont section of North Carolina and South Carolina.

Ferrell joined Duke Power in 1970 as a junior engineer. He progressed through a number of positions of increasing responsibility and was named manager, Rutherfordton branch, in 1976. He was named district manager, Anderson district, in 1980; vice president, Northern division, in 1984; vice president, operating, in 1988; vice president, Northern region, in 1991; process owner, deliver products and services, in 1995; and senior vice president, distribution wires, in 1997.

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Ferrell graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He earned a master of business administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969.

Ferrell is a member of the Customer Operations Management Task Force of the Edison Electric Institute. He is a member of the board of directors of the North Carolina Engineering Foundation, Inc. at North Carolina State University. He serves on the Advisory Board of Summit House and is a past member of the North Carolina State University Alumni Board.

Ferrell was born February 17, 1944. He and his wife, Paula, have a daughter and a son.
