Scope:

The chemical, electrical, and mechanical characteristics of insulated conductors and environmental influences that affect their application and rating. Included are calculation procedures; thermal influences and management- dielectric stress distribution- shield effectiveness; sheath bonding- fluid hydraulics and the effects of switched and lightning impulse voltage on electrical insulation protection.

Mission Statement:

The Cable Characteristics Subcommittee's mission is to continually advance the chemical, electrical, and mechanical characteristics of insulated conductors and to monitor the effect of environmental influences on insulated conductors relating to their application and rating to improve their performance.
