Design, construction, application and general matters dealing with insulated conductors for special uses. Included are shipboard and military wires and cables; cables for vertical installations; submarine cable; mining cable; locomotive and car equipment cable; cables for direct burial or tray applications; cables for use in air-handling plenums and other special applications of insulated conductors. Also, color coding as it relates to all forms of cable identification.
The Special Purpose Cables Subcommittee's primary mission is to organize working groups to develop and maintain standards for special purpose cables used both inside and outside the electric utility industry worldwide. In addition, the Special Purpose Cables Subcommittee shall be a forum to update the ICC membership on current issues regarding a wide variety of insulated conductors used in special purposes as defined in the scope of the subcommittee.
In the Winter of 1998, SC 9 was inactivated as a part of the ICC reorganization. It's Working Groups were reassigned as follows:
